Miss Vampira, a California native turned New York tattoo artist, specializes in blackwork and black and grey portraits. Drawing inspiration from horror, pop culture, and nature, she brings your tattoo ideas to life with custom designs and flash art. When she isn’t at Thorn, she also tattoos at Five Points in NYC.

Joanna Tattoos grew up in Zakopane, Poland, a mountain town inside Tatra National Park. The landscape shaped her relationship to creativity. “As an adult, I’ve realized that I need that constant connection to nature to fuel the artistic drive within me,” she said. 

After moving to New Jersey, she worked long hours in hospitality management before studying audio production at the Institute of Audio Research in New York City and working live sound. Eventually, tattooing took over, though she still plays guitar, writes songs, and occasionally performs at local open mics. She’s been tattooing for eight years, specializing in portraits and darker, atmospheric imagery.
